Dear God,So far today, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped. I haven't lost my temper. I haven't lied or cheated. I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or overindulgent.I'm very thankful for that. But in a few minutes, Lord, I'm going to get out of bed; and from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot more help.In Jesus' name, Amen.
I can relate to that, can't you? New Year's resolutions sometimes don't last until January 2nd. Determination to eat less lasts only until the hunger pangs start around dinner time. Commitment to spend more time in Bible study or prayer gets crowded out by a multitude of demands within just a few days. Living a holy life gets warped by the day to day temptations of our culture and the pressures of daily work.
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity. ... My eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; in You I take refuge. (Psalm 140:3-8)
May God grant you the strength necessary to live for Him this day.
